Full Job Description

The Department

The Box Television music team manages and schedules the music video content on Box TV channels and related services, providing (where necessary) editorial narrative in keeping with the channel brand guidelines.

Job Purpose

Responsible for defining and managing a winning content/service mix in order to drive immediate and long term profitable growth of the Box Television brands online.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a content/service mix that meets audience needs and matches the brand values, making leading brands like 4Music a top 10 web site in its competitor set.
  • Take formal responsibility for Box TV editorial output online, leading with 4music.com, liaising with Compliance, Programming, Production and Box TV senior management where appropriate.
  • Ensure all output is consistent with the Box TV editorial policy.
  • Form strong relationships with internal stakeholders in programming, scheduling, marketing & PR at Box TV, C4  and Bauer - bringing their experience, access and brand equity to play to the benefit of the service.
  • Manage external production resources and related budget to derive maximum value from the investment.
  • With the input of the Head of Marketing, define a profitable growth plan for the Box TV online business, starting with 4Music.
  • Work with the Commercial Team and Marketing to identify and deliver profitable partnership opportunities both in terms of distribution of Box TV online content and inclusion of 3rd party services within the Box sites.

  • Significant experience working on consumer-facing lifestyle, entertainment and/or factual content
  • Knowledge of relevant compliance and rights issues
  • A demonstrable passion and knowledge for digital media and music
  • An ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ in terms of short and medium term strategies, as well as focus on the detailed objectives of daily site management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to articulate a vision for the product/s in a way that motivates, persuades and inspires
  • Robust creative judgement to creatively appraise editorial and design assets and to generate new content ideas for the web.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • A self starter who works well under pressure and is  proficient at managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills
  • Understanding of how publishers can beneficially engage with the “social” web.
  • An advanced sense of what makes a successful online user experience including an appreciation for the fields of usability and accessibility.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Understanding of commercial strategies for online publishers including approaches to maximising advertising and related revenue streams, and driving operational efficiency.
